Liberties

DAY 39 since school closed.

DAY 29 of “stay at home” order.

Today was all about work and school. We have incorporated “word of the day” to build everyone’s vocabulary in the house. Yesterday was the word, liberty. Today was the word, responsibility.

Liberty:  the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views.

Responsibility:  the state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something.

After reading today’s news, it seems some people feel their “liberty” is at stake. I do not. When you use the two words of liberty and responsibility together, you create a view that is needed for this particular time in history. We have the liberty in this country to disobey whatever executive orders are handed down from the president or governor. We also have a responsibility to keep from doing harm to others. It is difficult to give up freedoms, even if it’s just for a short period of time. But ask yourself, are you giving up a true freedom or are you postponing a convenience that you desire?

Personally, I miss my boat, but the weather is so bad I would not be using it. Today was windy and cold with snow! To give up my boating in order to have this whole lock down bullshit over with, is something I feel is a responsibility to do. Everyone is getting stir-crazy or cabin fever. Keeping Americans “locked-up” in their homes is creating a pressure cooker that is at the point of eruption. It is a difficult thing for us to do – to just stay home. We are so used to being in automobiles and hitting the open road to go anywhere we desire. But let us try to hold on a bit longer so this pandemic can keep turning downward. Just a little longer. We can do it!

Today’s summary report:
• Funny news of the day is about how farts may spread the coronavirus: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11401962/doctor-coronavirus-spreading-farts/
• Tired of seeing ads for designer face-wear on my computer.
• Also tired of seeing ads for bras on Facebook. Especially when the women are like a double D-cup. Hello?! I’m like a triple A-cup – like the thinnest pancake you’ve ever seen with a chocolate chip on top.
• Be careful reading the news. Watch the dates and timelines. You would be surprise at how many stories are from previous years being used to help someone get their point across.

The below numbers are according to news source WDIV:
• Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Michigan: 32,967
• Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Oakland County: 6,306
• Total deaths due to COVID-19 in Michigan: 2,700
